Life on the Land - TapeCan$13.00 The third album entitled "Life on the Land" released by local musician Butch Falk would be most accurately described as a collection of "cowboy" or "western" songs, composed by some of "Butch's" favorite writers. While Ian Tyson and Tom Russell are already well known, artist names like "Rob Dinwoodie" and "Ken Overcast" will be new to most people. Chosen for their emotional appeal, Butch felt the lyrics of these songs either hit close to home in some way for him or for others he has known. "Move a Mountain" by rancher Ken Overcast (Montana) is a prayer for healing for a terminally sick friend. "Hallie Lonnigan" by Tom Russell is a tribute to the pioneer women and the hardship they endured. "Same Kind of Horse" by Rob Dinwoodie compares old time horse trainers and methods used today. Very welcome additions to this album are background vocals and a duet on "Billy Gray" with special guest, Eli Barsi. Eli is making great strides in the country music scene. Her latest single "Speechless" can be heard frequently on JC55. Butch has always had a heartfelt appreciation for his "Life on the Land" and through his music hopes to express that appreciation to others and provide a little insight into a way of life they may not otherwise have the privilege to experience.
